STEM ACADEMY APPLICATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED

To continue the goal of being a district with leading-edge learning experiences, the AISD has partnered with the University of Texas at Arlington for a new STEM Academy – science, technology, engineering and math. Students will have the opportunity to earn high school and college credits from UT Arlington along four pathways – engineering, biology/biomedical science, computer science and math/science. The program will debut at Martin High School in fall 2015 with about 100 ninth graders from across the district, and 100 students will be added each year until the program enrolls about 400 students across grades 9-12. There are no fees associated with being a part of the STEM Academy. Students in the STEM Academy will have a chance to complete 21-32 hours in their college major at UT Arlington prior to high school graduation. Students will also be able to advance their STEM education outside the classroom as well, with opportunities such as internships, mentorships, job shadowing, community service, enrichment programs and a summer learning opportunities. Students selected for the STEM Academy will enjoy all the benefits of being a high school student at Martin High School including fine arts, sports, clubs and organizations. Applications for the STEM Academy are now available online and are due by Feb. 27. More information is available at www.aisd.net/stemacademy.

ONLINE TRANSFER RENEWALS FOR 2015-2016 OPEN

Transfer renewals for current Arlington ISD students will begin Monday, Feb. 2, using a streamlined online process through infosnap, the online pre-registration site used by the district before the 2014-2015 school year.

Parents/guardians can renew transfers for the 2015-2016 school year from 8 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 2 through 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27. This will be your only opportunity to renew a transfer; if the transfer renewal fee is not paid by 3 p.m. on February 27, the student will lose the transfer and the parent/guardian may apply online for a new transfer from March 2 through March 6.

Parents/guardians of current transfer students should receive an email and letter in the mail that has a snapcode and instructions on renewing transfers. A snapcode is a unique registration code assigned to each student. If you do not receive an email or letter in the mail, please contact your student’s campus for your snapcode.

The $50 transfer fee may be paid online with a credit card or bank transfer or by cash or paper check in person at the campus. If you pay by cash or paper check, you will apply online and print the Submission Confirmation page to take to the campus for payment. Payments must be made by 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27.

Prekindergarten transfers are not renewable. You must return to your home campus or request a new transfer online during the March new transfer period.

The following schools are not open to transfers for the 2015-2016 school year: Anderson, Corey, Crouch, Knox, Moore, Remynse, Roark, Timber Oaks (new school for 2015-2016), Thornton and Wood elementaries.

Transfer renewals may be completed here: English | Spanish

The Arlington ISD will begin online registration for new transfers beginning at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 2. Online registration for transfer applications will close at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 6.

New transfer requests will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Since new transfer requests will also be done online through infosnap, parents/guardians completing the registration must have a valid email address. More information regarding online new transfer requests will be available soon.
