Applications being accepted for limited first- and second-grade openings at Corey and Jones Fine Arts and Dual Language Academies

In order to continue to promote engagement, creativity, critical thinking and achievement as a part of the district’s Achieve Today. Excel Tomorrow. strategic plan, the Arlington ISD opened two fine arts and dual language academies. A limited number of first- and second-grade openings have become available at Corey and Jones Fine Arts and Dual Language Academies, so applications have been reopened.

The boundary map for the two academies splits the district in half along Pioneer Parkway/Spur 303. All Arlington ISD addresses north of Pioneer Parkway/Spur 303 are zoned to attend Jones Academy, and all AISD addresses south of Pioneer Parkway/Spur 303 are zoned to attend Corey Academy.

Applications for these limited first- and second-grade spaces at the fine arts and dual language academies are now available and must be submitted by 4 p.m. Friday, April 21. Applications may be filled out online in English or Spanish. Families will be notified of their child’s acceptance Friday, May 14 by mail.

The Arlington ISD will hold two parent information meetings:

• Corey Academy (5200 Kelly Elliott Rd., 682-867-3900) – 6-7 p.m. Thursday, April 20

• Jones Academy (2001 Van Buren Dr., 682-867-3580) – 6-7 p.m. Monday, April 17

Parents must attend an information session before students are eligible for admission to a fine arts and dual language academy.

Questions can be directed to the respective campus.
