Mr. Griffith was born and raised in the great State of Ohio. He attended Centerville High School in Centerville, Ohio. While in high school, he was a varsity letterman in basketball and track. He graduated from high school in 1990.
Mr. Griffith attended The Ohio State University then transferred to Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1995. After graduating, he taught sixth grade Social Studies for six years. During this time, he coached basketball, cross country and track. He coached at many different basketball camps around the country including Michael Jordan’s Basketball Camp in Illinois for three years. He received his Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan in 2002.
His experience as an assistant principal includes two years at a middle school in Michigan and five years at Arlington High School. 2008 marks his first year with the Lamar. He is Lamar’s AVID Coordinator, coordinates the campus’ alternative education, works with teacher lunch duty schedule, assists with textbooks and works with the science teachers to help increase Lamar’s science scores.
He is very passionate about education and helping students make proper choices for their lives. If you come to his office, you will see a banner that says, “Success Is a Choice”. He wholeheartedly believes in this statement. His famous quote is, “You can do anything you want to do. You are not free from the consequences.” If you make proper choices, you will receive good consequences. However, if you make inappropriate choices, you will receive bad consequences.
In his spare time, Mr. Griffith enjoys playing golf, where he is trying to lower his 12 handicap. He also enjoys lifting weights and spending time with family and friends. He is a talented singer and recording artist, perform with three different groups: a southern gospel group called the A’Men Quartet, an a cappella group called InUnity, and a twenty-four member ensemble called Paradigm Vocal Ensemble. His singing talent has afforded him the opportunity to minister to many different people all over the United States and in other countries. .
