Bits of Inspiration

"The purpose of learning is growth, and our minds, unlike our bodies, can continue growing as we continue to live." -Morris Adler, Psychiatrist

"I wanted to change the world, but I have found that the only thing one can be sure of changing is oneself." -Aldous Huxley, Novelist

I know I’m not alone in being thankful for the rain this week. The amount of rain made it difficult to drive and get to school, but it was certainly needed. It’s been a long dry spell.

Last Saturday I spoke at the awards program for the Academic Decathlon regional meet. Congratulations to the Arlington HS team and sponsors Tanya Maness and Mandy Martin for winning first place in the meet. They will advance to the state meet Feb. 23-26 in Houston.

This afternoon, the Board and administration will begin a series of meetings to create a long-range strategic plan for the district. The plan is expected to be ready in April for approval by the Board.

From my meetings with principals and visits to campuses, I know you have all been working hard this year. I appreciate your effort and the teamwork I’m seeing throughout the district. As Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”

I am proud to be superintendent of the AISD!
