Language Arts
Following a district-adopted curriculum, all levels of students research various topics in order to produce an MLA documented paper, write essays that are maintained in writing folders, work through a rigorous vocabulary program, prepare for various state and national tests, and complete a required speech class. In the English classes at all levels, students read a number of major works and shorter writings for analysis and interpretation to increase comprehension and higher level thinking skills. In addition, the department offers a selection of interesting electives that include Humanities, Philosophy, Journalism (Yearbook and Literary Magazine), Women's Literature, Book Club, Test Preparation Class, Creative Writing, Oral Interpretation, Debate, Public Speaking, and various reading classes.
