Here in the Colt Newspaper we have fun while providing information and entertainment to the school. We get to go behind the scenes to get the story: we get to decide what news is. We’re providing important information, uplifting stories and easy entertainment to the students and adults on campus. We’re also striking out against illiteracy and censorship in school.
Joining the newspaper staff gives students something important to be a part of. They get to see their work in print and get a reaction from it. Being on staff also helps with their witting and communication skill and looks good on college applications and resumes. A student interested in being on our staff must complete Journalism 1 with at least an 80. While in class they must show an interest in and an aptitude writing, they must work well with others and they must meet deadlines. In the spring they will need to fill out an application and participate in an interview with the advisor and editorial staff. Not every student who applies is accepted so it is a privilege to be on The Colt staff.
We are the best here because of three simple words: spirit, pride, and tradition.
The support we get from fellow teachers and the administration and the feeling of belonging to a giant family makes being a Colt worth it.
