In School Suspension
This is a short term assignment that is usually 1-3 days for students who commit offenses in the Group 1, 2, or 3 levels of misbehavior listed in the Student Code of Conduct Book.

Choices
This is a longer assignment that is usually 5-10 days for Group 3 and 4 levels of misbehavior. Choices can be assigned on our campus or at Turning Point.

Communication and Parent involvement are critical at this stage of a student's life.

Student Code Of Conduct
Every student is issued an A.I.S.D. Student Code of Conduct. Each school is required to abide by these rules. Schools may adopt stricter guidelines but must fall within these guidelines. The Arlington Independent School District is committed to providing each student with a quality educational program. This goal can only be achieved in a cooperative school climate free from disruptions, which hinder and interfere with the educational process. The rights of students, teachers, parents, and administrators are to be valued and are protected under federal and state laws. The school district will strive to achieve a working balance between rights and responsibilities, which foster a positive school climate where there is mutual respect and an opportunity for students to develop their full potential. A parent may receive extra copies of the Student Code of Conduct in the main office.

 DRESS CODE

The appropriateness of a student’s clothing for the school environment should dictate the choice of clothing and grooming practices on each given day.

Please consider the modifications listed below as a supplement to pages 47 and 48 of the Student Code of Conduct for the school year 2008-2009. The modifications include the following:

Shirts and Blouses
Crop tops, midriffs, tube tops, halters and spaghetti straps are unacceptable. Strapless dresses without jackets are unacceptable.
All shirts must be tucked in.
All shirts and blouses must cover the entire crown of the shoulder.
Pajama bottoms and intentionally torn or cut/slashed pants are considered inappropriate. Manufactured boot-cut slits are acceptable.

Accessories

All students must wear shoes. House shoes are unacceptable.
Blankets are not considered acceptable accessories.
Identification Badges

All Jr. High school students must wear their AISD-issued student identification badges at all times. Badges must be visible to AISD employees at all times. Badges cannot be worn underneath clothing and cannot be carried in a student’s pocket, backpack, bag, purse, etc.
Backpacks
Backpacks large enough to hold a book cannot be worn or carried into the classroom. Backpacks must be
kept in a student’s locker.
We expect our students to dress in a respectful manner within the acceptable standards of the community. We ask for your cooperation in helping your child adhere to the dress code.

 Getting Acquainted

I love my job for many reasons.  I will only mention a few.  I love working with junior high students and being able to make a difference.  I like learning from the students and hopefully them from me.  I love the wonderful staff at Workman, and I am very fortunate and honored that I am a part of this school.

Turning Point
A student can be removed to Turning Point for a term to be determined by the assistant principal for Group 4 Level Misbehaviors or misbehavior that results in a felony charge.  After placement in Turning Point, a six weeks' review of a student's status may be held unless the behavior resulted in a felony charge. Then, the length of Turning Point is contingent on the felony charge.
