 Getting Acquainted

Math really is my life. It such a major part of who I am, and I do my very best to instill a love of math in kids. I was a student at Workman during the 1989-1990 school year. One of my former teachers is now my colleague, which is pretty great!   My wife and I moved to Mansfield in 2006, our first child, Preston, was born in June 2007, and we are expecting another in December 2009. If life weren't already sweet enough, I've got a great teaching job here at Workman where I get to show eighth graders how fun math can be!

Speedcubers

Speedcubers is the Pursuit of One.  We strive to be able to solve the Rubik's Cube in one minute.  Students who join Speedcubers don't need to even be able to solve the cube yet, nor even own one..  All that is required is commitment, practice, and a dedication to the pursuit of excellence...the pursuit of speed...The Pursuit of One.  One cube, one solve, one minute.

 MATH CLUB 2008-2009

This year, the Workman Math Club will be participating in the MATHCOUNTS competition, sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers.  We will also compete in the Greater Dallas Council of Teachers of Mathematics annual math competition and the Math Olympiad.  We will meet once or twice weekly, and members are expected to show up on time and ready to practice.  Math Club is all about going above and beyond what you learn in the math classroom.  You will discover new ways of thinking about and tackling challenging math problems.  Come be a whiz kid!
