Career Cruising

Students will use Career Cruising starting now and all through their High School years!

Career Cruising has been developed with one goal in mind: making a comprehensive career guide that people will truly enjoy using.

While in school, we noticed a common problem among our peers – few of us knew what to do with our lives after graduation. Our understanding of our career options was very limited, and was often based more on inaccurate stereotypes than the reality of the working world.

To address these problems, we set out to create a career guidance resource that would have appealed to us when we were in school. Our aim with the initial version of Career Cruising was to develop a user-friendly program that combined comprehensive career information with the personal perspective provided by multimedia interviews with people in every occupation.

Over the years, we have responded to the needs of Career Cruising users by adding a number of additional features: first-class career assessment tools, a comprehensive post-secondary schools database, a financial aid section, a career portfolio tool, and helpful administrative features.

The ongoing development of Career Cruising is a labor of love for all of our staff. It is our hope that Career Cruising will have a positive impact on the lives of everyone who uses the program.

As we begin the 2011-2012 school year, there will be many adjustments to make.  We have a new principal, and a new daily class schedule.  There will be 7 classes each day.  This means we have to get each class started quickly to make best use of the time alloted.   It always amazes me however that many students show up for school/classes without a pen or a pencil.  They spend the first 10 minutes begging/expecting others to loan/give them a pencil.  Please make sure your student has proper basic supplies.

This year I am scheduled to teach both Intro Tech and Math.  Teaching both subjects may require me moving from room to room, so I ask the students to be patient while awaiting my arrival to the classroom.

At the beginning of classes there are a number of forms that require parents signature from the school, as well as from individual classes.  That is also true of my classes.  Please sign the necessary forms and return them quickly please.

My math classes will have homework on a regular basis.  Homework allows the students to practice the knowledge they obtained during class.  This is a very important function in the learning process.

All parents are welcome to visit my classroom at any time.  Be sure to have your student come in after school and make up their work if they happen to miss their normal class time.

For my Intro Tech students, all make-up work must be done in the lab after school hours.  The lab will be open pretty much every day after school to allow students to make up any missed work. The only time I will not be available is when I am scheduled to attend a meeting of some sort.

The easiest way to reach me is through email:  cfatka1@aisd.net.  Feel free to contact me with any question or concern.  I look forward to hearing from you.
