 WJH Clubs & Organizations

Keep your student involved!  Students who are busy with clubs and after school programs perform better in school and have higher self esteem.  Join one (or more) of our many after school programs at Workman!

 

The following clubs are available at Workman Junior High through the 21st Century Grant.  Students may attend these programs voluntarily throughout the year. 

Manga - Students meet to read and discuss a variety of Japanese comic books.

Green Team - Students collect and recycle for the school.

Chess Club - Students learn chess strategies and play chess.

Fit Club - Students work on muscular and cardiovascular fitness, as well as learn about nutrition and health.

Gamers - Students play a variety of Wii and PlayStation 2 games.

Art Club - Students create masterpieces.

Homework Club - Students may work on homework in a quiet setting after school.  Teachers are available.

Math Club - Students compete in math competitions.

Speedcubers - Students learn how to solve the Rubic's cube in 10 seconds.

Pearls - This club teaches young ladies skills necessary for them to grow into successful women.

Skills Club - Students work on cooking and sewing projects.

Spanish Club - Students learn about Spanish language and culture.

 

The following clubs are available for students to join through an application or try out procedure.  Students complete the criteria administered by the sponsor and are then required to attend meetings.  See sponsor for more information.

Student Council - Students are selected based on responsibility and leadership.  They are responsible for helping the school.

National Junior Honor Society - Students are selected based on academic achievement.  They are responsible for community involvement.

Lady Diamond Steppers - Students try out for positions.  Steppers perform at local events.

Drama Club - Students try out for plays and perform for the school or community.

Book Club - Students must read the selection of the month.  Lunch meetings are held to discuss the book.

Stupendous Spellers - Students practice for the schoolwide spelling bee.  The winner(s) then compete in a district competition.

Friday Fiddlers - Orchestra students play in a string ensemble.
