Arlington High School Updates and Events

Hello Colts,

Tuesday, May 21st is going to be a special day at AHS. Student Council is hosting the drunken driving awareness program Every 15 Minutes, where predetermined students are pulled from class at 15 minute intervals to represent victims of an alcohol related car crash.

At 7:35am, I will come on the announcements to explain to everyone what will take place throughout the day. At 7:45am, we will hear a heartbeat on the announcements. At that time an officer and a “Grim Reaper” will enter the classroom of the first victim. The victim will change into all black clothing and have his or her face painted white. The student will return to class, where he or she is considered dead and no longer allowed to interact with others. Students participating in this day are still required to complete their work; however, they will not be permitted to participate in discussions or other group activities.

The counselors will be available for students affected by this day.

Additional activities taking place today include informational booths in the cafeteria, white crosses representing the victims being placed in front of the school, and the victims walking through the halls during lunch.

Please take time to discuss the dangers of driving while intoxicated with your students when they get home. This message is so important, especially considering this weekend is prom.

SENIOR NEWS:

Wednesday, May 22 we will have Cap and Gown delivery during lunch. At this time, students will also receive their graduation tickets.

Saturday Night is Prom at the Texas Motor Speedway. The prom times are from 6:00 - 11:00. We have an After Prom Party (Mardi Gras Madness-MGM) starting at midnight at AHS. It is going to be a great weekend!

Graduation Rehearsal is Wednesday, June 5 @ 1:00 at UTA College Park Center.
AHS Graduation is Saturday, June 8 at 7:00 at UTA College Park Center.

EXAMS:
Exam days will be Wednesday, June 5 and Thursday, June 6. ALL students (exempt and non-exempt) are required to be on campus each of those days. Students will report to their classrooms during exams. Both days will be early release days ending at 11:35.
