Fire Academy
On Thurs, Mar 5, there will be a Fire Academy informational meeting for parents and students. The meeting will be held at 7:00 pm at the AISD Professional Development Center (map). During this meeting, parents and students will have the opportunity to learn more about the program and to ask any questions they may have. If you are interested in applying for the AISD Fire Academy and have not yet done so, you may pick up an application the night of the meeting.
 
Cosmetology

Calling all soon-to-be barbers, hair stylists, make-up artists, and nail technicians: The Cosmetology department wants you!

An informational meeting for all applicants will be held on Mar 5, from 6:00 to 7:00, at Sam Houston High School (map) in the Little Theatre. A parent or legal guardian must accompany the applicant to this meeting. This will provide you an opportunity to learn more about the program and to ask any questions you may have.

This program has a limited number of spaces and applicants must:

  • Be classified as a sophomore
  • Complete the cosmetology application by Mar 3
  • Attend the meeting on Mar 5 to set an interview appointment
  • Go through an interview as part of the selection process.
 
Cheerleading meeting

The Bowie Cheer Tryout meeting is being rescheduled due to the unpredictable, inclement weather this week. It will take place next Wed, Mar 4, at 7:00 pm in the Bowie Little Theater.  A parent must be in attendance with their child in order to be able to try out for Bowie Cheer. If you have any questions, see Coach Luckett in room 813.

 
LIFE Academy

Arlington Coalition for Education and Arlington ISD will host Leaders Inspiring Families for Excellence Academy (LIFE Academy) at Bowie High School from 8:00 to 2:00 on Sat, Feb 28. Please join us for an opportunity to broaden life skills. Register online at http://coalition4education.org. Media Fair

AISD's Media Fair is intended to encourage students and teachers to use technology for teaching and learning. Students are invited to create curriculum-related projects in any of nine categories: animation; desktop publishing; digital audio; digital graphics; digital video; multimedia; programming and application development; web and mobile applications; and web design.

Student entries must have a sponsoring teacher and must be submitted by 3:00 on Mar 4. Winning entries will be displayed at an evening event Apr 23.

Course Registration for 2015-2016 school year is open now through Mar 20. Counselors will be visiting grade levels on the following dates:

  • 11th grade: Jan 22-23
  • 10th grade: Jan 28-29
  • 9th grade: Feb 18-19
