Implementation of the TEKS requires that tools such as computers, digital cameras and online resources become pervasive in classrooms. The purpose of the AISD Media Fair is to encourage students and teachers to fully implement the TEKS and to use technology to improve teaching and learning.
Students in grades PK-12 may create curriculum-related, electronic projects for the Media Fair in any of nine categories:
-
Animation (frame animation, dimensional animation, and video animation)
-
Desktop Publishing (multi-page flyers, newspapers, book jackets, menus, magazine covers, brochures and calendars)
-
Digital Audio (podcasts, radio jingles, and original music compositions)
-
Digital Graphics (stationery, CD labels and jackets, silk screen designs, bumper stickers, logos, product packaging, or posters)
-
Digital Photography (photographs with or without manipulation)
-
Digital Video (documentaries, instructional news stories and abstract/experimental videos)
-
Multimedia (interactive tutorials and slide show presentations)
-
Web 2.0 (using free web-based tools to generate and host curriculum-related content. Wikis and blogs do not qualify as Media Fair projects.)
-
Web Design (html documents and support files that can be viewed with a browser)
Entry information and campus-level entry forms are available through Campus Technology Trainers. The deadline for submitting entries to the district level is 4:00 pm on March 9, 2012. Winning entries will be displayed at an evening event TBA.
