Focus on Retention in Cohorts of Engineering Students (FORCES) ScholarshipFocus on Retention in Cohorts of Engineering Students (FORCES) will provide scholarships and other academic support too two cohorts of engineering students in their freshman and sophomore years. The students will take classes together, including a peer counselor‐taught class covering academic skills and engineering topics. Other elements of the program include support to improve first‐semester calculus readiness, academic and career counseling, peer tutoring and involvement in engineering internships. The program is open to all incoming freshman engineering majors at UT Arlington (UTA) during the 2009‐10 and 2011‐12 academic years. Texas Lyceum ScholarshipThe scholarship award is intended to promote education and leadership within the great state of Texas, as well as to reflect its diversity. West Elementary PTA ScholarshipsThe West Elementary PTA is providing three scholarships in the amount of $500 each, for a total of $1500, each school year to assist former West Elementary students offset college expenses. The following scholarships will be awarded each year as applicants are available: the West PTA Student Scholarship, the Sam & Barbara West Student Scholarship, and the Sam West Memorial Student Scholarship.
