Shackelford Tardy Policy

Tardy Policy

Our approach for encouraging our students to be punctual:

  • Students are expected to be in the classroom when the bell rings (not running into the room, etc.)
  • Teachers will close their door when the bell rings. Tardy students will wait quietly for the teacher to allow them entry (within a minute or so).
  • Consequences for tardies are posted outside of classroom doors. To see a copy of this, look in the Links section of this web page.
  • Students will sign a tardy log as they enter the room, and will be marked "tardy" on TEAMS, our electronic attendance system. This is also the system we use for grades. Parents and students have access to view attendance/grades at any time through Parent Self-Serve and Student Self-Serve. If you see that your child has several tardies to a particular class, please contact the teacher for more information.

Class time is precious; please help us encourage our students to be punctual!

ID Policy

Student IDs

AISD policy requires that all secondary students wear an ID at all times while on campus. During the first week and a half of school, each student was provided with an ID, and a label to be placed on the ID holder for their schedule.

  • If a student loses/forgets their ID, a new one can be purchased for $2 during 1st period. A staff member visits each class, collecting names and $2. The IDs are delivered to the students, eliminating a need for the student to leave class.
  • Students must present IDs to enter the cafeteria at lunch- ID must be theirs, photo facing out and visible, no defacing of picture. Students without IDs will have lunch detention hall for that day.
  • IDs are required to attend all events on campus (athletic and social). Students without IDs will be turned away at the door.

Please help us to reinforce this policy by making sure your child has their ID before they leave home each morning!

Lamar Freshmen Center Meeting

.

8th grade parents! Lamar High School will host a meeting to introduce the Freshmen Center to you and your students on Wednesday, May 22nd from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.  Parents should park in the lot north of the school and enter through the "band hall" doors.  At that time, they will be greeted by the administrative team, receive a tour of the Freshmen Center (which is the new wing of the high school), and receive information regarding the 9th grade plan from our 9th grade assistant principals.
