We Need Your Input!
 We would like to know how our students and parents/guardians feel that we are doing at Shack in our efforts to be the best junior high school in Arlington. We have our perspectives on what's important, but we need to hear from you, too, so we can continue improving. We have a survey for students, and we have a survey for parents/guardians, and both are in English and Spanish. The surveys are anonymous, so please be candid and comprehensive. The more information we receive, the better prepared we will be to either improve upon the good things we are doing, or make adjustments in other areas. Our Site-Based Decision-Making committee will review the results and consider them as we construct our campus improvement plan for the 2012-2013 school year.

Attention Patriot Families!
If you'd like an added resource to help with understanding an academic concept, check out
Khan Academy at www.khanacademy.org
You'll find an amazing array of brief but comprehensive tutorials, with practice problems that are scored immediately.
For instance, let's say your young'un is having trouble solving one and two-step equations in math. You can go to the Khan Academy website, scroll down to "Algebra: Solving linear equations", then you see "Solving one-step equations". Click on it, watch the tutorial, then work some problems. You can get hints on how to proceed if you get stuck, and once you've mastered those problems, you can proceed to "Solving one-step equations 2", or jump to "Multi-step equations".
You'll need a Google or Facebook login, which you can create at www.khanacademy.org if you don't already have one. There are tons of tutorials, covering many subjects.
