TRANSFERRING A STUDENT

ALL TRANSFERS ARE CLOSED FOR THE 2011-12 SCHOOL YEAR.

NEW TRANSFERS FOR 2012-13
******************************************************************************************************************
STARTING APRIL 2, NO NEW TRANSFERS WILL BE PROCESSED.
YOU MAY PUT YOUR STUDENT'S NAME ON TWO WAITING LISTS AT THE ADMINISTRATION BUILDING THROUGH JULY IF THE SCHOOL IS OPEN TO TRANSFERS NEXT YEAR.
THE FEE FOR THE TRANSFER (IF APPROVED) WILL BE $100.

REMEMBER THAT IF YOUR STUDENT IS ON A WAITING LIST,
THE SCHOOL WILL CALL YOU IN AUGUST IF THERE IS AN OPENING
AND YOU WILL PAY AT THE SCHOOL.
NO INFORMATION REGARDING OPENINGS WILL BE AVAILABLE UNTIL AUGUST.

(No 2012-13 PreK transfers will be processed until August; the PreK department will handle PreK transfers.)

The Arlington ISD School Board voted on 2/2/12 to close the following schools to transfers for the 2012-13 school year:
Closed Elementary Schools: Atherton, Crouch, Ellis, Johns, Larson, Morton, Speer, Thornton, Webb, Williams
Closed Junior High Schools: Barnett and Shackelford
Closed High Schools: Bowie, Lamar, Martin, Sam Houston

There will be no new transfers allowed to the closed schools for the 2012-13 year with the following exceptions:
1. The student is presently on a transfer to the school.
2. The student has a sibling who is renewing a transfer to the school for next year, or
3. The student is attending an elementary or junior high school which is in the feeder system for the junior high or high school.

1. After March 31st, no additional new transfers will be processed; parents may put the student's name on a waiting list at the Administration building.  No transfers will be processed from the waiting lists until August.  Applications will be processed at the campus in August 2012 if there are openings.

2. Applications for out-of-district transfers will not be processed at this time. Beginning February 25th, you may place your name on waiting lists for two schools.  No transfers will be processed from the waiting lists until August.  Applications will be processed in August 2012 if there are openings. The fee for out-of-district transfers is $1,898.

*******************************************************************************************************************************
RENEWAL TRANSFERS WILL ONLY BE PROCESSED AT THE SCHOOL.
TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO PAY YOUR RENEWAL FEE.
IF THE RENEWAL FEE IS NOT PAID BY MAY 1,
THE STUDENT WILL LOSE THE TRANSFER.  IF THERE IS AN OPENING AT THE SCHOOL YOU WANT TO RENEW TO, YOU MAY PUT YOUR NAME ON A WAITING LIST.  IF THE SCHOOL IS CLOSED TO TRANSFERS NEXT YEAR, THERE IS NO WAITING LIST.

RENEWAL TRANSFERS
1. Renewals began on February 15.
2. Your school will send a 2012-13 transfer form home with your student.
3. From February 15 to March 31, the transfer renewal fee is $65 for regular transfers and $1,898 for out-of-district transfers.  The fee will be paid at your school.
4. You must also show a current proof of residence (current utility bill-not cellphone bill, lease agreement, or contract to purchase).
5. On April 1, the fee increases to $100 for regular transfer renewals.
6. If the fee is not paid by May 1, the student will lose the transfer.  The parent can then put the student's name on a waiting list at the Administration building if the school is open for transfers.

ARLINGTON ISD PEG SCHOOLS FOR 2012-13
Lamar High School
Sam Houston High School
Hutcheson Junior High
Nichols Junior High
Shackelford Junior High
Morton Elementary
Roquemore Elementary

Above is a list of AISD schools identified under the Public Education Grant (PEG) Program. This list, effective for the 2012-13 school year, identifies campuses that were rated Academically Unacceptable in 2009, 2010, or 2011 under the statewide accountability system.

A student enrolled in any of the campuses listed may:
1.  make application to attend a campus in any other school district for the 2012-13 school year, or
2.  may apply to attend another non-PEG, non-closed (open for transfers) campus in AISD for the 2012-13 school year.

If your student attends any of these PEG schools, you will receive a letter from your school stating that your campus is a PEG campus. Below is additional information related to PEG transfers:

1.  If you wish to enroll your student in another school district in 2012-13 because your AISD school is a PEG school, please contact that school district in writing for information on the transfer.

2.  If you live in another school district and attend a PEG school, you may put your name on a waiting list to apply for a transfer to any AISD non-PEG, non-closed (open for transfers) school beginning on February 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Administration building, 1203 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, TX.  You must have a copy of the PEG letter from your school.  However, out-of-district transfers will not be processed until August.

3.  If you wish to enroll your student in another AISD school in 2012-13, requests for PEG transfers will be taken at the Administration building.  If there are no openings in the school and grade you want, you may put your name on a waiting list at the Administration building.

4. There is no transfer fee from a PEG school to a non-PEG school.

5. If you choose to transfer to another PEG campus, a transfer fee must be paid.

6. If you choose to renew your transfer to a PEG campus, a transfer fee must be paid.

7. No transportation will be provided.

8. The student may stay at the non-PEG school until:
  • the original campus is removed from the PEG list, or
  • the student is moved to a non-PEG school due to boundary changes or student moves into a non-PEG school attendance zone, or
  • the student completes all grades in the non-PEG school.  Therefore, the student will return to his/her home school feeder school when moving from 6th to 7th grade or from 8th to 9th grade.
If you have further questions, please see the PEG FAQ document link on this website.  Contact your PEG school for questions regarding academics, or for transfer information, call the PEIMS department at 682-867-7217.
