Elna Ramsey

Ms. Ramsey graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Business Administration. After working more than two decades in business development management, she began working with At-Risk and Overage middle school students.

I piloted the Plato program at Workman Junior High in the fall of 2005 and became manager of the Plato Learning Lab. I believe that a quality education is essential in order for students to become successful and contented when they enter the workplace, serve their communities, and care for their families.

Plato Learning Lab
What is Plato?
Plato is an on-line computer-based education network that provides a comprehensive course offering for secondary students. The Plato program is designed to provide intervention and course recovery.

Why Plato?
Plato provides a non-traditional environment, and focuses on student needs and the educational foundation necessary for academic success.

 Program Focus
Plato implements a proactive approach to catch students before they fail. The program offers students an opportunity to recover a failing 6 weeks period. The objective is to decrease the number of students who attend extended year, to lower the student drop
out rate, and foster positive teacher-student relationships.

PLATO CLASSES

  • Scheduled intervention classes are available for the 1st six weeks. Beginning the 2nd six weeks, students may be scheduled for recovery based on their 1st six weeks grades.
  • Recovery students will be pulled from an elective class. When the student masters all of the required lessons assigned by the core teacher, he/she will return to their elective class.
  • Plato will be offered during Saturday school. Enrollment contracts will be provided for the parent to sign.
