Howdy! Welcome to Bailey, the Champs team and the history of Texas. During this school year, your student will learn the geographical and historical background concerning the six flags that have flown over our great state: Spain, France, Mexico, the Republic, the United States of America and the Confederacy. From the beginning, with the arrival of the Native Americans, to the story of colonization, revolution and nation-building, to its annexation as a member into the family of states that is the U.S.A., this history is rich and exciting.
In order for your student to be successful, have him/her come to class prepared to work and learn each day. After all, success is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration. WORK is the key. Buy a paper/plastic folder with pockets to be used as a Texas history notebook. Each assignment will be kept there. Many of these assignments will be completed using map pencils. Bring a set each day, along with paper and pen. Use either black or blue ink. Each day's assignment can be found in the Bailey planner/agenda carried by your student and at schoolnotes.com. Both are updated each morning.
If you need to contact me, please call the school or e-mail me at rmills@aisd.net. Remember, communication is a key ingredient in your student's success. If you should desire a conference, the available time is 9:00 to 9:30. Call or e-mail to schedule a time. The phone number is (682) 867-0700.
I look forward to meeting you and sharing our state's history with your child.
