Eighth-grade English is the year of the TAKS Reading Test! Although the TAKS reading test is important, the skills that students need to develop in order to pass this test are my focus. Through the use of literature, vocabulary and grammar, students will develop critical thinking and questioning skills that will take them far beyond the English classroom and into the real world. The AVID elective is a college preparatory program designed as a support system for organization and success in rigorous curriculum. We are learning skills to help up succeed in everyday life, including time management, organization and confidence.  More than these important elements, AVID is a family of support and love. We offer your students a place to support them whenever they need help with their classes.
