If you child needs help in any subject, they can come after school from 4:00 to 5:00 Monday through Thursday! I am available every morning, Monday through Friday beginning at 8:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m. for zero hour students. Call if you have questions.
AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. The AVID elective is a college preparatory program designed as a support system for organization and success in rigorous curriculum. We are learning skills to help students succeed in everyday life, including time management, organization and confidence.  Students are placed in PreAP classes and driven to succeed through individual determination and support from teachers and peers. More than these important elements, AVID is a family of support and love. We offer your students a supportive environment whenever they need help with their classes.  PreAP English 7

PreAP English 7 focuses on writing and grammar. This year we will take the STAAR test which will include two writing prompts. One prompt will be a narrative which allows students to think creatively. The second prompt will be expository, challenging students to react to a written piece and back up their opinions with facts from the written piece. The STAAR will also include revising and editing. These skills are the focus of the PreAP English class. Students will be challenged daily with writing, grammar and vocabulary activities.
