Hello! My name is Sandra Asberry. I am the counselor at Veda Knox. I came to Veda Knox in August, 2005. I have been in the field of education for 20 years. I have been an educator and a counselor in the Dallas and Cedar Hill school districts before coming to Arlington. For the past six years, I have served as an elementary counselor in Dallas, Cedar Hill and Arlington school districts.
Veda Knox is a great school with an excellent and caring staff and a great student body. It is a pleasure to work with your students. Veda Knox has high expectations of its students and staff and it is great to be a part of this staff. My role as the school counselor is to facilitate students’ successful achievement in all that the school program has to offer. I serve as a resource person, a consultant, a teacher and a caring person who helps students, parents, teachers and administrators. Among other counseling duties, I am the campus test coordinator. I am here as a counselor and a good listener.
Although I sometimes wear many hats, my number one role is that of a child advocate. I want what is best for our students academically and socially, not just while they are here at Knox, but for their future as well.
“It has been said that life is a journey, so make sure your kids have a guide. A collaborative relationship with your children’s school counselor can reinforce that they are heading in the right direction.” American School Counselor Association – Lessons for Life
