As in years past, Farrell Elementary has hosted a school-wide retreat. August 2011 marked the seventh annual retreat and a new theme for the 2011 school year. This year, our teacher's read the book, Soup by Jon Gordan. Soup follows the story of Nancy, a CEO for Soup, Inc. The company, Soup, Inc, is declining in sales and rumors of bankruptcy are swirling. The company has lost both flavor and heat; and nobody likes lukewarm soup. Soup tells the story of how Nancy turns her company around by following the key ingredients for the perfect recipe. Soup delivers a powerful message that the quality of your career, team, or business is determined by the quality of your relationships. During our school-wide retreat our teams got together and created the perfect recipe for the perfect team. Those posters will be displayed in our school hallway for you to enjoy.
In addition, this year we will be implementing two new awards for students and teachers. For teachers, a Golden Spoon Award which will be given to the staff member every month who has gone above and beyond to assist a parent. For more information on this award, please visit the front office. For students, we will have the SOUPer Student Award. Every six weeks, two students will be chosen from each grade to enjoy lunch with the principals as we honor them for their outstanding character.
