Bailey Recycling Contest

Recycle09

The district-wide recycling contest is underway to see which school can recycle the most magazines and catalogs during October 1 through November 6. At Bailey Jr. High, we are also having a contest between the seventh graders and the eighth graders to see which grade can recycle the most magazines and catalogs to show RAM PRIDE in our district, community, and school by recycling. The Green Team and students at Bailey Jr. High are encouraging their families and friends to join in our recycling contest, because WE CAN ALL WIN --WHEN WE PITCH IN! Everyone knows that RAMS CAN RECYCLE!

Bailey FCA charity walk

FCA

Bailey JH students, parents, faculty, and family members participated in FCA's First Family Walk for Christ on Saturday, September 26. The Rams' FCA joined other local FCA programs on a leisurely mile and one half walk through the beautiful Village Creek Park.

It might have been a reunion!
Everyone came back to celebrate! 2008-2009 TAKS Recognized faculty and staff returned to Bailey to accept congratulations from Mr. McCullough and his administrative team. Mr. Walker from central office, Mr. Davis from Lamar HS, retired teachers and custodial staff, the cafeteria ladies--it was a reunion. We thank AISD for showing their appreciation of our effort to do everything possible for our students and their parents.

NEW PRINCIPAL AT BAILEY!

MrsBenavides

Mrs. Benavides comes to Bailey from Arlington High School where she was the senior class assistant-principal. She was honored with a reception at Bailey shortly after her appointment; a select group of students from Bailey's orchestra provided background music as Mrs. Benavides greeted her guests. Currently she is meeting with each Bailey teacher individually to introduce herself and to get to know us. Bailey is extremely fortunate to have such an intelligent, energetic and talented new leader.

Recycle with the Rangers!

recycle

During the month of April, AISD held a recycling contest called Recycle with the Rangers--Go Rangers--Go Green. This contest was to increase the percentage of the amount of paper recycled at each campus over what was recycled in April of 2008. To encourage participation in the contest, we also held a contest at Bailey. Each time a student brought newspapers, magazines, junk mail and catalogs, the student’s name was entered in a drawing for a $25 gift card. Congratulations to our winners and remember-----RAMS Can RECYCLE!

Curb Appeal Partners

SCM Real Estate and First Rate Inc., together with a dozen other businesses and individuals, are launching a campaign which unites corporate sponsors with schools in an effort to improve the outward appearance of schools. The group plans to make facility and aesthetic enhancements to additional campuses in the coming year. The Curb Appeal Partners program begins with a $12,000 facility improvement project at Bailey JH.
To kick off the program, pilot sponsors SCM Real Estate and First Rate competed in a friendly basketball game at Bailey on April 17. Bailey’s Principal Jimmy Walker and AISD Board Member Bowie Hogg refereed the game. Both companies have donated $5,000 each to Bailey to make improvements to the school campus. The losing basketball team will make an additional $2,000 donation to the school.

Bailey speech department presents "Annie"

Annie

Mrs. Garner and Mrs. Wells are extremely proud of the cast and crew of this year's play! Bailey speech students presented "Annie" to a full house on March 6 and 7. The acting was extraordinary; the singing and dancing were phenomenal. The sets created by the art department were amazing. Photos of the cast and crew can be purchased by contacting Mrs. Garner or Mrs. Wells.

Bailey Teacher of the Year for 2008-2009

trevino

Shanda Treviño is willing to go that extra mile for her students. She is always looking for new and creative ways to teach. Her early arrival to school allows her to provide study hall and tutoring for her students who need it. Mrs. Treviño gets to know her students so she is able to help them on a personal level. Working with her AVID classes, her English classes, or the yearbook staff, Mrs. Treviño is always positive and looks for the good in everyone.
