Connie Healer

Literacy is one of my passions.  I hold a Batchelor’s degree (English) from UTA and a Masters degree (Library Science) from UNT.  I have been blessed during my 38 years in education to experience a wide range and variety of educational opportunities, but one of my most rewarding ones has been here at Kooken.  How well the Kooken slogan, “Kooken, where it all begins,” fits my objective!    It is my goal to encourage our students to develop literacy skills and become life long readers who love books.  With your help, our little ones will accomplish this!

 

I’m only on Kooken’s campus on Wednesdays due to a split assignment; however, I have the opportunity to provide story times and book circulation for the students and work with a very dedicated cadre of teachers and staff in a number of ways.  I’ve been with AISD for 21 years, and here at Kooken for the past 8 years. 

 

One of my most cherished and honored moments is that of having been a recipient of a PTA Life Membership.  How rewarding and humbling it is to be recognized for something I love to do…working with children.!!!  Various committees both within and outside of the district vie for my “spare time,” but there’s always time for reading.  What have you read recently?  Do you have an Arlington Public Library card yet?
