AISD is a district that recognizes the need to provide strong support and ongoing professional development to all employees. A special emphasis is placed on those new to the profession. As a part of the district’s support system, AISD requires eighteen (18) hours of professional development during the first year of employment for our teachers who are new to the profession (first year to teach). The following components comprise these 18 hours.
-
Supporting and Aligning Inductees Learning (SAIL) Academy - 12 hours
-
Assisting Inductees through Mentoring (AIM) - Ongoing
-
Behavior Support/Classroom Management and Organization - 12 hours*
-
Attendance at follow-up support meetings (minimum 1/year) - 2 -4 hours
-
Participation in online professional development modules - 2- 4 hours
* Not part of 18 hours as this is required for all new employees.
