Regular attendance is essential to success in school. If a
student is absent, it is the responsibility of the parent to call the
school office on the day of the absence, preferably before 10:00 a.m.
Out of concern for your child's welfare, calls will often be made to
inquire about their absences.
The AISD recognizes the following reasons as excused absences:
- Legitimate days of illness. Excessive days or 3 consecutive days could require a physician's statement.
- Death in the immediate family
- Severe family emergency
- Doctor or dental appointments
Unexcused Absences:
- Vacations and trips
- Transportation problems
Keep your child at home when:
- child has a minimum temperature of 100 degrees
- child has diarrhea or vomiting
- child has a rash of unknown origin
- child has red, runny eyes or wakes up with eyes "glued" shut
- child complains of ear pain with or without fever.
Your child may return when:
- fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducer
- free of diarrhea and vomiting for 24 hours
- you have consulted a health care professional
Students who have unexcused absences will not receive credit for assignments/tests recorded on those days.
