Cafeteria Rules
Rules/Expectations:
- Students are asked to abide by 3 basic cafeteria rules:
- Bottoms in seats.
- Belly-buttons facing the table.
- Use a quiet voice while eating.
- Hands and feet to self
- Use appropriate table manners
- Walk at all times
- Following the above 3 rules will earn their class 3 points on their class chart posted in the cafeteria.
Reward System
- Students will start out with set # of points
- Loss of points = loss of privileges

- Cafeteria Monitor will circle # points earned during lunch time with dry erase marker
- 10-12 points earned by Friday = Free choice seating @ their classes table
- 5 or less = consequence given by Teacher and Asst. Principal
- Class with the highest point totals @ the end of the 6 weeks earns “Golden Spoon Award” and a treat/prize from the office
Pin Number:
- All students have a lunch account with a PIN number.
- Please help your child practice this number.
- This account works like a bank account; deposits can be made in the cafeteria in the mornings, or online at www.pamslunchroom.com.
- A parent block may be used to save your child’s account from “snack abuse”.
- Please see the cafeteria manager or write a note to arrange a “snack block”.
Seating Arrangements:
- Students are to sit in designated seats, assigned by the classroom teacher.
- Once a student has sat down, they will not be allowed to get up. Students should get everything they need for lunch before having a seat.
- If students need something, they should raise their hand and a cafeteria monitor will assist them.
- Students are given the opportunity to earn “Free Choice Friday” for good behavior and earned points on their class behavior chart in the cafeteria.
- “Free Choice Friday” lets students sit anywhere they want to at their class table.
Lunch Guests:
- All lunch guest and vistors must sign-in in the office and recieve a vistor's pass to enter the cafeteria.
- Students will sit along one side of the long cafeteria tables.
- If a student has a guest eating with them, parents/grandparents are asked to sit directly across from their child.
- If there is not a seat directly across from their child/grandchild, they may move to an empty table with their child/grandchild only.
- Food brought in by a parent/grandparent is only to be given to their child/grandchild.
- There cannot be any sharing of food with non-family members.
Lunches:
- Late lunches (after 8:20) need to be brought to the office.
- Please label all lunches with the student's first name, last name, and grade level.
Short Meal:
- “Short Meal” as designated by the cafeteria manager.
- “Short Meal” is given to a child after two charges on their lunch account after their account has a zero balance.
FMNV:
- Food of Minimal Nutritional Value—junk food, hard candies, carbonated beverages, etc.
- The law that states, “An elementary school campus may not serve or provide student access to FMNV at any time anywhere on school premises during the school day.”
- FMNV items may not be sold or given away on school premises by the school, school organizations, non-school organizations, teachers, parents, or any other person or group during the school day.
Clean Up:
- Three minutes before dismissal, students are given an opportunity to clean up their lunch eating space.
- Students clean their lunch eating space… their trash, on the table, and on the floor.
- Students place (not throw) trash into trash cans.
- Table washers clean tables as soon as student trays are put away.
Dismissal:
- After students have disposed of their trash, they will walk to the exit doors of the cafeteria and line up quietly.
- Students wait quietly in line until their teacher arrives.
- No running or student will be asked to sit down and practice exiting the appropriate way.
