Meet Deborah Vation. She has lived in the DFW area since 1974 and has been with AISD since 1997. She is married and has two children. She has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker. Her previous work experience includes a Parole Officer for the State of Texas, a Court Reporting Teacher, and a Supervisor/ Counselor at Welcome House Youth Services.
Mrs. Vation is the Intervention Specialist for the Martin network and other AISD schools as assigned. She currently works at Martin, Boles, Young, Corey, Ditto, Dunn, Goodman, Little, Miller, Moore, and Wood. Her responsibilities include: providing prevention and intervention services, providing outside counseling resources, coordinating services with parents and other agencies, providing drug awareness education for school staff, parents, and the community.
Services are available to students in grades K-12 as needed or requested.
The referral process is as follows: a student may self refer by putting a note in one of Mrs. Vation's confidential mailboxes located on some of the campuses. A student may also contact any school faculty or staff member and make them aware of the need for services. Parents and school staff may also use one of these mailboxes or email Mrs. Vation at ddvation@aisd.net.
Mrs. Vation has a heart for the students. She wants to see them be successful in every area of their lives. She wants to see students reach their goals and make healthy decisions. It is important to resist peer pressure. It is a team effort. It takes the cooperation and participation from parents, students, and the school.
