It is a privilege to be able to work with the students and families at Johns Elementary. The traditions and expectations that have been established since 1970 help Johns Elementary to be a great place to learn. The daily emphasis on critical thinking and student-ownership of learning prepares our children to be future community leaders throughout Texas and the United States.
We appreciate your interest in Johns Elementary. With parents, teachers and volunteers joining together, our students can achieve the highest goals of learning. We encourage you to visit us as you make decisions regarding your children and their education. We welcome your participation and support to our school and encourage you to become a member of the Johns PTA. We look forward to celebrating the achievements of our students at Johns Elementary.
For the Children,
Tammy Rogers, Principal

About me:
I grew up in Murray, Kentucky, where both my parents were educators. My father is a retired principal, and my mother is a retired middle school teacher. I attended Murray State University, and graduated with a bachelor of education degree in elementary education and a masters degree in special education. My first teaching position was at my alma mater, Calloway County High School where I taught Special Education there for two years. I then taught for two years in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, at ASSETS, a school for dyslexic and gifted children. We moved to Texas in 1989, and was a teacher in Grand Prairie for one year before teaching for eight years at Bebensee Elementary here in the Arlington Independent School District. I completed a master of teaching with Aministrative Certification from the University of Texas at Arlington and then was the assistant principal at Blanton Elementary for four years. I am beginning my ninth year as principal at Johns Elementary and my 20th year in the Arlington Independent School District.
