My name is Amanda Kerce and I have been using ASL since I took it as a foreign language at Birdville High School in North Richland Hills. I loved the language so much that I later entered in the interpreting program at TCC. I graduated from UTA with my degree in Sociology, with emphasis on Social Psychology (perfect for teenagers!).
I'm a third generation teacher. That's right, my grandmother and mother are both teachers as well, however I am the first to teach a foreign language. This is the job that I never knew I always wanted!
I love what I do and look forward to coming to school everyday (believe it or not)!
I believe that each child should be treated the same and with much respect. I want to encourage my students to push themselves and I do not want to stiffle their growth. I understand that each child learns differently and I try to incorporate different activities that will include all learning styles. While I am understanding, I do believe that High School is the opportunity for me to prepare my students for life outside of high school ("the real world"). I enforce deadlines and hold the students responsible for all late work.
I hope to be someone that will impact the lives of students that walk through my door!
