Welcome!
I have been a part of the Martin family since 1992. My three children are all graduates of Martin High School. I loved it so much that I stayed behind after my youngest graduated. This is my fifth year as a Martin teacher. When my personal life took a different turn, I decided that my professional life would do the same. I followed my oldest daughter into the teaching profession – a decision which has been immensely rewarding.
I oversee the Credit Recovery Program (also known as Plato) and I have the unique opportunity of teaching a variety of courses spanning all core subjects: English, Math, Science and Social Studies and all grade levels. It is a little like playing Jeopardy all day long.
When your student fails a course, they may be given the chance to retake the course through Plato. This is a unique opportunity because they only retake the six weeks that they failed in the regular classroom. A student is assigned the appropriate six week periods and they take on-line lessons, which include a tutorial, practice and mastery test, specific to those six weeks. If the student has any trouble with a concept, they get one-on-one tutoring; this allows us to address specific weaknesses of the student. Working closely with each student allows us to assess their needs.
I truly love what I do here at Martin and I am fortunate to work with a great team of teachers. The Credit Recovery Program is about second chances - allowing students the gift of being able to get back on track. It is immensely gratifying and I thank you for the opportunity to work with your child.
