Welcome

Welcome to the World of Ready Set Teach and Interior Design!

I teach one double blocked class of Advanced Ready Set Teach I, one double blocked class of Advanced Ready Set Teach, and two classes of Interior Design.

Ready Set Teach is an internship program for students interested in pursuing a career in the field of education. It is a year long course which involves classroom instruction at Martin and field site experiences at the Martin feeder elementary and junior high schools. Students are accepted into the program based on grades (overall 80 average or above), attendance, teacher recommendations, a personal interview, and writing/reading sampling. Students must have a driver's license and transportation. Application to the program, interviews, and the selection process is done in the spring of the previous year in which the student will be enrolled in the program. Students who complete Ready Set Teach and meet specific criteria are awarded a Letter of Intent from the Arlington ISD which gives hiring priority for a teaching job with AISD when he/she returns with a college degree and Texas teacher certification.

Interior Design is a year long course offering students opportunities to learn about housing options; architectural styles; furniture styles; decorating techniques; floor plans; current wall, window, and floor treatments; color schemes; and accessorizing. There are many hands-on activities and projects. Guest speakers and field trips to local businesses are incorporated with the curriculum throughout the year.

I grew up in Dallas and am a graduate of Baylor University. I am married and have two sons who attend Martin. I have taught Family & Consumer Science classes for 24 years and started the Ready Set Teach program at Martin nine years ago. I truly enjoy teaching the subject matter in the classes that I teach and invite you to contact me with any questions that you might have.
