I am a returning teacher with the Career and Technology Department (CTE) at Martin High School. I was born and raised for part of my childhood in Arlington. After graduating high school, I attended Texas A&M University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. After graduationg from college and before teaching, I worked in industry for 10 years for the Department of Defense/NSA, Mobil Oil, and ABB Inc. Here at Martin, I teach Concepts of Engineering, Technology & Science (CETS), Introduction to Engineering Design (IED), and Aerospace Engineering (AE). The latter two classes (IED & AE) are a part of the Project Lead the Way® program.
CETS in an introductory level elective course that uses streaming audio & video coupled with hands-on equipment at team lab stations with other class members to keep students engaged in practical application of science and math.
IED is one of three foundation courses in the Project Lead The Way® high school pre-engineering program. The course applies and concurrently develops secondary level knowledge and skills in mathematics, science, and technology.
The AE course is intended to serve as a specialization course within the Project Lead the Way® sequence. The course is structured to enable all students to have a variety of experiences that will provide an overview of the field and be exposed to the various situations that aerospace engineers face in their careers.
As a CTE teacher, I strive to prepare my students for entry into either a related field of employment or a more advanced post secondary training program.
