Howdy!
Welcome to Mrs. Sherrill's Biology and 9th grade AVID home page! I'm thrilled to begin my second year at MHS and thrilled to be teaching Biology and AVID this year!
While I am relatively new to teaching (this is my 5th year), I am a product of AISD - having attended Ditto, Young and then Arlington High. I am proud to say that my education in Arlington prepared me well for college at TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY in College Station where I received a Bachelors of Science in Genetics- WHOOP!
My ties are strong to Arlington, having grown up here. In addition, my husband is a long-time coach at Young JH. We even have little Warriors in the making, as the twins are now Young Eagles and my daughter is a Little Rascal!
As a teacher, I believe it is not just my duty to teach science but mostly my honor and privilege to prepare my students for a successful life. Every day, I will do my best to teach them life skills, which may include study skills, organizational skills and just basic interpersonal skills. During the second 6 weeks I will introduce an extra credit opportunity which will involve a "Pay It Forward" type of system - because I firmly believe that seeing how your positive energy affects others will allow my students to desire to be the best human beings they can be!!!
I am available to both students and parents- and I welcome any and all interaction! My tutoring times are "A" days during lunch, or before school by appointment. They should come in to make up missed homework, labs, tests or quizzes. Of course, they are encouraged to come in for any additional help!
If you ever need to reach me, feel free to email at dsherril@aisd.net and I will respond as promptly as I can.
Gig' Em!
