Welcome

Hello, welcome to my place in cyberspace.  My name is Hoy Max Spencer.  I was born in Paducah, TX., raised in Knox City, TX.  I graduated from Texas Tech University in 1976 with a degree in Soil Science.  During my Tech years, I worked on campus building several facilities.  Upon  my graduation,  I  continued  working in Lubbock building Lubbock Power and Light generating plant on the Slaton highway.  After completion I moved to Arlington where I worked building several bridges, pipe lines, water treatment plants, and a lake dam for Ray Roberts Reservior.   I married Susan Prescott in 1979.  We have 3 kids, Allison, Mark, and Andrea.  Susan has retired this year as a teacher from Dunn Elementary for 31 years and she has had a major influence upon my career in teaching.  In 1986, I enrolled in UTA's accelerated teacher academy in which I took all 24 hours of necessary education classes in one semester.  That was the best thing I have ever done, but I do not recommend anyone taking 24 hours in one semester and trying to be a father and husband.  My teaching career started at Young Jr.High teaching Physical Science.  I taught at Young for 10 years and I came to Martin High School in 1996 when the high school enlarged to a 4 grade high school.  At Martin, I started teaching physics and I really enjoy it today as I did from the first.  I started coaching golf in 1999 as an assistant golf under Robert Nobles. I became the girl's head golf coach in 2005 and became boy's head golf coach in 2010.   Our physics department is well staffed and energetic  Our golf teams have been very successful also.  I feel everyone should be a student of physics and golf.
