In the Fall, 2008, our Varnessa Dorsey applied for a Grant for a "Golf Project" to be implemented by a combined effort of the Science and Math Departments at Nichols. The science teachers were to have their students design a course to use their skills of measurement, and discuss motion, force, friction and speed factors. Math teachers were to take the patterns designed and using scale factors create the life-size patterns to be used for cutting the bases of the golf course holes. The grant included the money to purchase the wood boards, covering, balls and clubs for the miniature golf course. Our Masterminds students completed their challenge and the pictues are showing the completed life-size patterns, laminated and ready for cutting.
