Description:  AH&LEF has 10 different scholarship programs ranging from incoming freshman through graduate. Scholarship awards range from $500.00 to $5000.00. Details can be found on their website.

Arlington Professional School Counselors Association

Description:  The Arlington Professional School Counselors Association offers seven scholarships to high school students from the Arlington Independent School District who will attend an accredited institution of higher education in the fall of 2011. Each student will receive a $500 award. The recipients of the awards will be honored with a certificate at his or her high school award ceremony and will be presented with a $500 check at the Association’s annual Scholarship Luncheon.

Association for Compensatory Educators of Texas (ACET) Scholarship

Description:   The three scholarships offered this year are: ACET Student Scholarship, ACET Adult (paraprofessional) Scholarship, NAFEPA Scholarship - this scholarship is offered to both high school seniors and college freshmen.

Barbara Jordan Memorial Scholarship

Description:  The Barbara Jordan Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the late Barbara Jordan, a Texas congresswoman and distinguished educator. Up to six $1,500 scholarships will be awarded each year to outstanding junior, senior and graduate students enrolled in educator preparation programs at predominantly ethnic-minority institutions.

Barbara Odom-Wesley Spirit of Achievement Scholarship

Description:  Xi Theta Omega Foundation presents the Barbara Odom-Wesley Spirit of Achievement Scholarship in the amount of $2,000. Applicant must be African-American female high school senior currently attending classes in the Arlington and Tarrant County area with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. Impossible/Possibilities Scholarship Initiative

Description:  Impossible Possibilities provides financial assistance to students based on academic achievement, life experience, desire to succeed, and individual need. Each recipient is granted a $1500 scholarship to defray tuition expensed for higher education. *Students must be enrolled as a senior at a high school in the Tarrant or Dallas counties.

J Woodrow Counts Scholarship

Description:  J Woodrow Counts was a long time administrator and former Superintendent of AISD. $1,000 scholarship based on extracurricular activities/leadership skills (20%), grade average/SAT or ACT (20%), school/community recommendation (20%), student essay, including grammar, content, originality and overall impression (40%).

NAFEPA - National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators Scholarship Program

Description:  NAFEPA offers three different scholarships each in the amount of $2500.00. The three scholarships are: (1) Stanley J. McFarland, (2) John A. Pfaff, and (3) Iva Mcants. The purpose of the scholarship program is to financially support post-secondary education for qualifying seniors or high school graduates who are attending their first year of college.

Sam Houston State University's Department of Library Science

Deadline:  Spring 2012
Description:  Sam Houston State University's Department of Library Science has long been a leader in preparing school librarians. Due to our ongoing demand even in these hard times, the university is allowing us to offer a unique scholarship that will be available for the 2011-2012 academic year. This scholarship is not competitive. Any student who gains admission, enters our program, and begins classes in either summer or fall of this year will be given a scholarship in the amount of $ 600.00 per semester for the duration of his/her studies.

Sandy McNutt Scholarship

Description:  The Wood Elementary PTA has established a scholarship to honor former Principal Sandy McNutt. The scholarship is one $400 to be awarded to a Martin High School graduating senior. Applicants must have attended and completed a minimum of two full academic years at Wood Elementary.

Texas Armed Services Scholarship

Description:  Scholarships for participating in ROTC program to prepare for service in the Texas Army, Air Force National Guard or a branch of the U.S. Armed Services. Students must be nominated by their State Representative, State Senator, Texas Lieutenant Governor or Texas Governor.

Texas NAHRO (National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials) Scholarship

UTA Freshman Honors Scholarship

Description:  A $16,000 scholarship ($4,000/year) will be given to seniors who will graduate in the spring of 2011, who are in the top 20% of their graduating class, AND who earn at least an 1100 SAT or 24 ACT.  Students must be admitted BEFORE February 15, 2011 to be eligible.

UTA Honors Academy

Description:  The UT Arlington Honors Academy provides an outstanding program of study for motivated high school students who enroll in university courses to earn college or dual credit. Honors Academy students can earn up to eight hours of college credit per semester towards a college degree while also meeting high school graduation requirements. Participation in the Honors Academy offers students a unique opportunity to sample college and become familiar with the UT Arlington campus prior to leaving high school.

Xi Theta Omega Foundation Debutante Scholarship Program

Description:  The Xi Theta Omega Foundation, in partnership with the Xi Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., hosts an annual Scholarship Ball and Debutante Presentation for young ladies in their final year of high school. The four month program consists of monthly training modules, with presentations and activities focusing on health and wellness, education, etiquette, leadership development, cultural arts, and community service. Through these activities, our organization seeks to motivate and educate program participants to grow academically, professionally and culturally. The program culminates with a black-tie Scholarship Ball and Presentation during the fall of each year where the debutantes are presented to society and recognized for their participation in the program.
