Common Questions.

Question:  Is there a "uniform" for athletics?  What does my son or daughter need to wear for class?

Answer: Yes, there is a uniform for athletics.  We ask that each student wear navy blue shorts and any Shack Shirt or white t-shirt.

Question: Does my son or daughter need specific shoes?

Answer: Yes.  They need a comfortable pair of shoes that will not leave marks on the gym floor.

Question:  What sports can my son or daughter play at Shack?

Answer:  Girls: Volleyball, Basketball, Cross Country and Track.  Boys: Football, Basketball, Cross Country and Track.

Question:  How much does it cost to be in athletics?

Answer:  The only cost is the cost of a physical from a doctor clearing your son or daughter to participate.

Question: Does this mean that the uniforms and equipments are also free?

Answer:  Yes.  The only exception might a particular shoe for a specific sport.  Examples: football cleats or basketball shoes.

Question:  What is the difference between PE and Athletics?

Answer:  We encourage any student thinking about playing sports to be in athletics.  While similar skills are taught in both classes, athletics is more rigorous.  We believe in the concept of a student athlete.  Because of this, we ask that all of our athletes strive to maintain an 80 average in all of their classes.

Question:  How do the players get to the games?

Answer:  We provide busses to and from every game.  Your son or daughter will need to be picked up from Shack after the bus returns.

Question:  My son or daughter has never played sports can they still be in athletics?

Answer:  Yes they can.  We do ask that each student try out for at least two sports.

Question:  Does my son or daughter have to shower?

Answer:  We encourage all students to shower and contrary to popular belief, Axe sprayed over smelly only equals smelly Axe.

Question: Where can I find more information about athletics?

Answer:  Meet the Coaches night on Thursday, August 18, 2010.  We will begin @ 6:30 in the JH Cafeteria.
