The 2008-2009 school year is going to be an exciting year.

 Over the last decade, there has been an extraordinary coalescence  among the teachers and staff at Maxie Speer Elementary and the promise of "Active Learning" as best practice leading to an enhanced student achievement.

Every student who walks through the door at Maxie Speer Elementary has the capacity to learn, to be successful, and to make a positive contribution to our world.  As adults, our children, will be burdened with the effects of global warming, deforestation of our planet, shifting weather patterns, and of environmental pollution.  Our children will be the engineers, scientists, doctors, artists, musicians, and political advocates, who will have the responsibility for solving these issues.  It is our responsibility as educators to CAPTURE, INSPIRE, and TEACH every student in order to prepare them for future global leadership.

 This school year, we will focus on what is important in the lives of our children.  We will teach what they need to learn and we will treat them with dignity and respect.  The children at Speer Elementary will know they are valued.  As Speer Stars, they will shine above all the rest!
