English as a Second Language (ESL)

The Family Literacy department offers adult English as a second language classes for Arlington Independent School District parents.  Our dedicated instructors assist adult learners to learn to read, write, and comprehend the English language, thus improving their employment opportunities and to better participate in the lives of their children.

We have day, night, and weekend programs available.

Our day programs are located at Knox Elementary and Hugh Smith Recreation Center.

We offer numerous night classes for those adult learners with varying schedules at Bebensee Elementary, Blanton Elementary, Crouch Elementary, Morton Elementary, Roark Elementary, Webb Elementary, Carter Junior High, and Sam Houston High School.

All day or night classes are free of charge including education opportunities for children..

GED Preparation

The Family Literacy department offers adult GED preparation classes that are designed to assist parents in preparing for the General Education Development (GED) examination.  Our dedicated instructors teach Reading, Writing, Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science according to each individual identified need.

Day classes are located at Knox Elementary.

Night classes are located at Crouch Elementary, and Webb Elementary.

The Family Literacy department can help you overcome this hurdle and gain the skills and confidence needed to successfully obtain your GED.

All day or night classes are free of charge including education opportunities for children.
