The cost is $26 for a yearbook or $31 for a yearbook with a CD. Please put your child's name, teacher's name and money in an envelope and give it to your child's homeroom teacher.

| Career Day is coming on Friday, May 18th
We feel it is important for parents and community volunteers to get involved by volunteering to show the wide variety of careers our students can grow to be a apart of. If you would like to participate, please complete the attached form and return it to school by May 9th.

| 6th Grade Black and White Bash The 2nd Annual Sixth Grade Black and white Bash is Friday, May 18th, from 7-9 pm in the school cafeteria. It is free and open to all West sixth graders and will be chaperoned by teachers and administrators. We are still accepting donations to help offset the cost of the dance. Items needed include canned sodas (Dr. Pepper, Coke, Sprite, Orange), bottled water, Oreos, sports gear, $5-$10 gift cards (iTunes, Chick-fil-A, McDonalds), or art supplies. Please send items to school (Attn: Mrs. Williams) by Monday, May 21st. |

| Mayor's Youth Commission Mayor Robert Cluck is asking for 6th grade students to apply for the Mayor's Youth Commission. The aplication is here. The purpose of the commission is to create a voice for youth, promote thinkers, help youth become leaders and good citizens, help teens make better choices by providing positive options, and make Arlington awesome. If you would like your child to participate, complete the application and submit it. You can find more information here. |

| Summer Private Tutors Some West teachers have volunteered to be private tutors for the summer. If your child is in need of a tutor for the summer, you may contact the front office beginning Tuesday, May 29, 2012 for a list of names. The office will give the preferred teacher the message with your contact information included. The teacher will call you back to work out the details regarding rates, subjects and dates. |

| New Visitor Identification System To ensure student safety, beginning Monday, Feb. 13, all AISD schools have a new visitor check-in system called V-soft. All visitors will be asked to present a valid state-issued ID to be scanned into the system. You can find more information about this new system here and at www.aisd.net. |
