3rd Grade

Third grade is off to a wonderful start for the 2009-2010 school year.

          

Our beginning focus in reading has been establishing routines and stamina for independent reading.  We have emphasized strategies for building comprehension, fluency, and accuracy.  Students have also enjoyed writing and beginning to publish their own pieces.

In math, we have reviewed number concepts including place value, addition and subtraction, as well as rounding.

In social studies we began by examining our community through map skills, and science has been focused on matter and measurement.

We have enjoyed getting to know our students better this six weeks.  Please keep them reading at home, and let’s all try and stay healthy!
