About Beckham Elementary

Philosophy        

Beckham Elementary is a child-centered school known for its innovative techniques in reading, writing, and mathematics.  In addition to obtaining a strong academic foundation, children will learn communication skills and conflict resolution skills to help them in their daily lives.

Hours        

Beckham Kindergarten hours are: 8:20-3:20. Surrounding doors will be open from 7:50 to 8:20 ONLY.  After 8:20, students and parents must enter through the front doors.  VISITORS MUST ALWAYS REGISTER IN THE OFFICE AND RECEIVE A HALL PASS.  (Although these specific doors will be locked from the outside, students and faculty can safely exit the building in case of an emergency).

Attendance       

Please call the office by 10:00 a.m. to report your child’s absence.  *Excused absences include illness of student or family emergency approved by the principal.  After three consecutive absences a doctor’s note may need to accompany student upon return.  (Make-up work is to be completed and returned within the same amount of days missed).*Three unexcused tardies in a six-weeks constitutes one unexcused absence.*

Dress Code        

If you have any questions about the dress code; please refer to the Student Code of Conduct booklet your child will receive upon entering Beckham.  If you have any concern or questions regarding appropriate dress please contact the school office.

Breakfast/Lunch        

Breakfast is $1.00 and lunch is $2.00 for students. (Free or reduced lunch applications may be picked up in the office or at Food Services located on Arkansas just past Davis.)

Parent Involvement        

Beckham Elementary strongly encourages parents to be involved in their child’s education.  Parents may volunteer at school in the workroom, in the computer lab, in the classroom, during special activities and celebrations, etc.  Parents are encouraged to take an active role at home as well through various projects and assignments provided by the teachers.

Supplies        

Your child will need supplies to be used during the school year.  Beckham PTA will provide pre-packaged supplies for your convenience to be sold in August.  If you prefer to purchase your own supplies, you may pick up a list from the office.  SUPPLY LISTS PROVIDED BY AREA STORES ARE INCCORRECT FOR BECKHAM KINDERGARTENERS.
