Teacher Assistants: Mrs. Hernandez, Mrs. Martinez, and Ms. LaHue
Our Kindergarten students have worked hard learning the routines and procedures of their school and classroom. They have learned what to do each morning, how to walk in line, memorized their lunch numbers and much more that we hope they have shared with you. We have also enjoyed learning each other’s names and getting to know each other.
We hope that your child has shared with you about Read to Self and Work on Writing. During Read to Self the Kindergarten students read independently, practicing reading with the pictures, reading the words and retelling a story. At Work on Writing our Kindergarteners are writing something of interest to them. They are drawing their story and then writing it using all the sounds they hear.
In Math we have been learning about shapes and sorting. Some of the attributes they have learned to sort by are color, shape and size. They enjoyed making and sorting buttons in the Button Factory where they sorted by big or small, thick or thin, or by # of button holes.
We look forward to what is ahead. Please be sure to check your child’s folder daily for communication and important notes. Mathoween will be on Friday, October 30 from 6:00-8:00 pm. More information will be coming soon!
