MATCHCOUNTS is a nationwide program developed in 1983 to promote math excellence among middle school students. Students learn complex math skills in areas such as algebra, probability and statistics.
MATHCOUNTS is open to any student who wishes to participate in the program. Participants in the program will be required to meet weekly as a group to develop teamwork and problem-solving skills. In February, the top 4 students from our school will have the opportunity to compete against other "Mathletes" at a local competition. The top finishers then progress to the state level. Results at the state level determine the top four individuals who earn the opportunity to represent their state or overseas teams at the national finals.
MATHCOUNTS is an excellent program for those students who have an interest in math and technology. This challenging program can help to prepare students for upper-level math courses as well as future careers. |
