Art Materials List Electives Updated November 30, 2011

Materials List for Art 2011- 2012

Required:

Notebook/ Sketchbook - This is the textbook for the class and these notes will be used for the exams. We will also being using these notebooks for warm-ups and journaling. Papers must be bound so the student does not lose half of them. They will need to study the notes for the semester exams.

Paper Towels - 2 Rolls are requested, one like Bounty to absorb spills and wipe hands and one cloth-like one, like Viva, for work with clay. The school not longer supplies towels for the art room or the science rooms. We will be using only what the students bring in. High-quality towels are really needed to absorb and work correctly. Anything will be appreciated, but Bounty and Viva are the best for the price. The students share the rolls and I will store them.

Kleenex - One box of any kind of Kleenex per student is needed for class. We use this not only for Sneezes, but also in class as a material for projects.

Suggested:

Watercolors - It is highly recommended that your student get one of their own. The best kind is Prang. They last longer and are rather inexpensive.

Scissors

X- Acto Blade - These are used in a number of projects and in many projects cannot be replaced with scissors. There are tote trays in the art room that are locked except during the class period, and each student has a private tote tray to store their stuff, this is where they keep the blades. They only need the handle; I have replacement blades appropriate for the individual project. Students are not allowed to carry the blades on the person or in their binders during the school day. They may only bring them to and from the art room before and after school, and during school they must remain in the art room.

Colored Pencils - We have a class set, but the students frequently use the same colors and we run out of black, red, blue, and green very quickly. Beware of map pencils; they have less color pigment in them then colored pencils and more wax filler.
