SCHEDULE CHANGE REQUESTS

How to Submit the Schedule Change Request Form
Once you and your student have completely filled out the form you may attach it to an email and send it to the appropriate counselor, you may mail it to the school, or you may drop it by the main office.

The form can be found on this webpage, in the Boles Bulletin, or in the main office.

8th grade counselor: ptate@aisd.net
7th grade counselor: mfranks2@aisd.net

Your counselor will do his/her best to honor your request but please understand that often there are scheduling conflicts that don’t allow them to change schedules, especially if it is an elective. An example of this would be trying to do both theatre arts and athletics. They both happen during 8th period making it impossible for a student to take both.

Please call the school at 682-867-8000 with any questions or clarifications.

"Expect Respect" Presentation
May 15 & 16

Expect, Respect Relationship Presentations address healthy dating relationships with teens. Teens learn the four types of abuse, issues of power and control, red flags of danger and ways to have safe dating relationships. Presenters also discuss characteristics of healthy relationships and how to maintain them.

Counseling/Guidance/Academic Information

The role of the junior high counselor is to guide students toward success in academics and in decision-making skills. Counselors coordinate and administer testing as well as interpret test scores. They help students make sort and long-range academic plans. They also work with students in developing skills in socialization, organization, time-management, and problem-solving. Parent contact and communication is a big part of their job; as student advocates, they are resources for parents and teachers and can help facilitate open communication between all parties. Counselors meet with students in large groups, in small groups and individually over the curse of the year.

You can reach our counselors by phone or email. Each counselor "moves up" or "loops" with her students, s that she can develop a strong relationship over a two year period. Pamela Hoffman is the Boles Guidance Tech, and she serves as the administrative assistant for both counselors.

Boles counselors make every effort to be available to students and parents, but there are days when they must spend their time off campus in training sessions, making presentations at our three feeder schools, attending professional meetings, assisting other campuses in the wake of crisis situations, or coordinating with Martin High School counselors.

Students may stop in the front office before school, before lunch, or between classes and request that their counselor see them. The counselor will send a pass at her earliest convenience. If the student has a need to see the counselor that qualifies as an emergency, he/she should inform the front office staff so that the student can be seen immediately. If a student has been meeting with the counselor and returns to a class after is has begun, he/she will have a pass from the counselor with a data and time indicated.

Parent Communications and Conferences
Communication is the key to a successful partnership between school and home. If parents have a concern regarding their child's performance in class, the first contact person is the teacher, who can be reached by email or by phone at the main Boles number. Email often provides an unlimited avenue for communication and quick exchange of information. However, email is not necessarily a good venue for solving complicated problems which occasionally arise. Those issues are best resolved in person. all teachers have a scheduled conference period in order to communicate with parents. If a parent has difficulty contacting a teacher, the counselor will be glad to serve as a facilitator for the conference.
