The outdoor performance area, the first of its kind in the AISD, will provide additional performance opportunities for students attending the fine arts and dual language program and include the possibility for amplified sound. Fencing around the site is up and the subgrade dirt work is underway. Completion of the amphitheater is scheduled for November.

The outdoor performance area construction is in conjunction with renovations beginning at Jones Academy this summer to repurpose the building, formerly known as Roquemore Elementary, into a space purposely designed for the academy’s fine arts and dual language programming.

The renovations to the school are funded by the 2014 Bond program, while the amphitheater is funded through a partnership with Texas Trust.
