Aug. 5, 2016 – The AISD hosted a community information meeting Aug. 1, 2016, to present plans for the district’s future Agricultural Science Center, designed by VLK Architects.

The new facility will compliment the Career and Technical Center currently under construction and will together offer students from all AISD high schools many career-focused courses and classes in sate-of-the-art facilities.

“Throughout our entire district there is transformation,” AISD Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos said at the meeting, designed “to help students realize their dreams and become college and career ready.”

The 23,000 square-foot Agricultural Science Center will include 54 pens for goats or sheep, 14 heifer pens, rabbit pens, animal exercise space, a metal construction lab and two classrooms. The site would also allow for expansion in the future if needed.

The facility is scheduled to open in the summer of 2017 in Dalworthington Gardens (at the intersection of Pioneer Parkway and Michigan Ave.). Construction will begin this fall.
