Ms Parsons' Welcome to Corey
Welcome Back to you and your family for the 2006-2007 school year. It is the beginning of another school year. Here are a few ideas to get off to a great start.
1. Establish morning, bedtime, and homework routines. These are the keys to school success.
2. Encourage your child to follow all school rules. Focus on listening and completing tasks at home. These skills are necessary in order to learn.
3. Monitor your child's homework. If you see a problem, schedule a conference.
4. Read, Read, Read. Reading with your child is essential.
5. Support our school. Attend Sneak a Peek, parent night meetings and volunteer. Show your child that school and learning is a family priority.
6. Teach your child to show respect to teachers and classmates. Being courteous to others promotes good self esteem.
Guidance services are available to all parents, guardians and students. Classroom guidance activities will focus on study skills, test taking and appropriate social interaction. Individual and group counseling are available upon teacher and parent request. Guidance materials are available to preview.
Thank you for scheduling appointments around testing dates. This year fifth graders must pass TAKS Reading and Math to be promoted. Third graders must pass the TAKS Reading to be promoted to the next grade level. Tutoring will be available to students as needed. Thank you for your support!
It is our goal at Corey Elementary to help all students achieve to the best of their abilities. We appreciate the continued support from our parents in this joint endeavor.
Sincerely,
Jackie Parsons, School Counselor
