Corey Elementary opened its doors in August for the 1985-86 school year.
On September 6, 1985 Mr. and Mrs. Corey, along with the entire student
body, faculty and staff gathered on the playground for Corey's dedication. Mr. Corey led everyone in singing "My Country 'Tis of Thee". Principal Randy Gribbin gave a signal and more than a thousand helium filled balloons, with the school's name and address inside, were released into the air. Notes were returned from as far away as Oklahoma saying that a Corey balloon had been found.
